- Before cutting open the squash, poke with a fork 5 or 6 times, and stick it in the microwave for 5 minutes. It makes the squash softer and easier to cut in half.
- Another option is to peel the squash before cutting it. This works with butternut squash quite well.
- Spaghetti squash is a great option for a squash at this time of year. It is a vegetable, but looks like pasta! This recipe is great for spaghetti squash, and kids will love that it looks just like spaghetti.
